ANTIQUE SHOPS, FLEA MARKETS, AND ANTIQUE SHOWS
Stretch Glass, both Early Period (ca. 1912-1932) and Late Period (ca. 1980-2011) is often available for purchase in antique shops and shows. It may take more than one visit to an antique shop or show to find the stretch glass for which you are looking, but persistence generally pays off. The list of shops and shows where stretch glass collectors and dealers have sighted and purchased iridescent stretch glass may be helpful in planning a trip in search of stretch glass. The items offered for sale in these shops and shows change regularly and they may not have the stretch glass you are looking for, or any stretch glass, at the time of your visit, however, more and more stretch glass is being offered for sale so your chances of finding some stretch glass to purchase is improving. As with any listing of shops and shows, you should always call to verify hours of operation and admission/parking fees (for shows) before traveling to them. These 17 shows occur 3 times each year, in early May, early July and early Sep. The show organizers claim that approximately 5,000 dealers offer items for sale. While there are a lot of dealers in the May and Sep shows, the July shows are substantially smaller. Dealers move from show to show as new shows open on different days of the week, so there are probably not 5,000 different dealers selling their wares, but it is one of, if not THE, largest gathering of antique dealers in one place and one time on the east coast. Stretch glass has been spotted on these fields; it is not abundant, but you will undoubtedly find some stretch glass among all the items offered for sale.
